In this video Stanford Professor Robert Sapolsky explains why depression is “absolutely crippling” and “basically like one of the worst diseases you can get.” Sapolsky says 15% of adults will suffer from debilitating depression at some point in their lives.
This is an incredible look at the different neurotransmitters and the systems they work on to cause depression. I have a feeling there will be more genes relating to dopamine, norepinephrine and serotonin found in the near future.
There’s also wisdom in understanding how our perceptions effect our brain chemistry.
My friend Dr. Demartini has a brilliant understanding of it and I’ve personally witnessed transformations of depression in others and in myself using better questions to balance perceptions.
