It’s said that “death is not the greatest loss of life. The greatest loss is what dies inside of us while we live.” This is one of the most profound wisdoms you can come to know in this lifetime – not as an idea or a belief, but rather as a soul-understanding that will engage you in building a meaningful path. What do you intend for your life? What will you create: regret, self-blame or self-knowledge and love? You get to decide again and again with each challenge you face during your process of unfoldment.
The journey of a single lifetime is brief. Perhaps that is why it takes many lifetimes reincarnating through many different roles, allowing a contrast that is necessary in order for personal evolution and the greatest expansion of “you,” at least while in your physical body. Ultimately you have to ask yourself: ‘why am I here?’ And, ‘what is the purpose of my life?.
Unwillingness to address these questions means you live your life from a very limited perspective, which prevents your ability to really thrive and be all that you can be. You have gifts and talents that are waiting to be expressed, but you need to surrender your past conditionings and learned conformity.
You Are Both An Eternal and a Physical Being
Life requires us to become very honest with ourself, which is not easy when we are far more comfortable believing the illusions of our own lies. This above all: “To thine own self be true, and it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man.”
As we learn the benefits of being honest with ourselves we can no longer lie, nor hide from ourselves, without experiencing a strong inner battle of discontentment and pain. A lack of personal fulfillment and confidence ensues until we realize we can be our own best friend or our own worst enemy.
Many of you, often times, doubt how capable you are of actually creating the life you want. It requires a devotion to staying in alignment with your higher self, and allowing for rebirth upon rebirth throughout life. But how do you stay in alignment with your higher self as you rebirth yourself?
You must be ready to die. As long as you hang onto the past and who you once were, you cut yourself off from the energy that moves worlds.
As humans, we love to assume that we know more than we actually do about the workings of this universe… at least until life throws a curve ball and we realize we know very little. When you encounter life events that bring you to your knees a profound humbling is born within you.
Be Kind, For Everyone You Meet Is Fighting A Hard Battle
Life is always moving and shifting and if we want to live to the fullest, there must be a focused willingness to know who you are – and that is difficult inner work. A spiritual path requires a dedication of allowing the ‘death’ of you so you can be awakened to your true self.
Only then, can you live without fear. You develop wings to fly, you know who you are, what you value, what is most important to you and your mission. From that place, you can evolve to more than you could have imagined. Tust and faith play an important role as well while you evolve throughout life.
Let’s Talk About Death
When I speak of death, I am not speaking of acceptance of the physical death, (although that is definitely a part) but rather the death of how you have defined who you are… i.e.. how you have come to know yourself.
While alive you are invited, over and over, to die to your smaller ego mind, in order to live a dynamic life. This takes all that you have and sometimes more.
Throughout life, you have been bombarded with other people’s idea of right and wrong from those living in the ‘Matrix’. We were trained to fear the loss of love and approval from our teachers, parents friends, and even our children. Stay small, stay safe and secure… don’t get carried away with yourself, is a message that many of us received.
After all, “who do you think you are? That is the question.
When You Are Born, You Forget Who You Are By Design, and Your Entire Life Is Awakening To Your Divine Self
You are Spirit (God, Source energy, Universe), and you are supported in growing into the greatest version of who you are, and what you are capable of becoming.
What I have discovered is that in order to truly live from your heart, you must be ready to die to the programmed voices inside your head… For as long as you hold on, you prevent yourself from taking the very actions that will free your soul so you can become the grandest version of you.
It’s very scary to be in a place of not knowing, of uncertainty or fear of the unknown. You like to feel secure, but rather than accept that security does not exist outside yourself, you often hang onto the illusions you created a long time ago of what life is about and what is expected.
Find the wisdom and courage inside of you to allow yourself to “die,” so you can be reborn, free to be your authentic self. Don’t allow fear to take over your life, even if it means crying a bucketful so you can release the uneasiness.
The Secret Of Change Is To Focus All Of Your Energy Not On Fighting The Old, But On Building The New
Life is an adventure. Know that things do work out, but often not in the way that you think or believe it will, but in ways you haven’t begun to imagine.
Accept your death and live as if you know nothing, and you will be in a much better position to allow and embrace all that life has to offer you. You have a mission here on earth, live it!
Life will guide you to the wisdom you need when you are willing, and ready to die to the old.

Great article and wise advice. Psychology and the spiritual disciplines both affirm the need to embrace dying in order to live fully. It is perhaps our western misapprehension of death and it’s place in the circle of life that holds individuals back from embracing it’s transformative process.
