If Chemotherapy Fails 97% Of The Time, Why Do Doctors Recommend It?

Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States. According to the National Institute of Health, around 1,658,370 new cases will be diagnosed and 589,430 people will die from cancer in 2015. While most conventional cancer treatments revolve around a mix of surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, some people question their efficacy — particularly chemotherapy. In these videos two naturopathic doctors make the argument that in many cases, chemo does more harm than good.

In the first video, Peter Glidden, BS, ND, brings up the relationship between cancer and monetary profit. Glidden, author of The MD Emperor Has No Clothes, cites a study published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, which found that over a 12-year period, chemotherapy did not cure adult cancer 97 percent of the time. “Why is it still used? There’s one reason, and one reason only,” Glidden says in the video. “Money.”

He points out that while doctors don’t get direct kickbacks for prescribing most medications, chemo drugs are unique in that the doctors purchase them from the pharmaceutical company and then sell them to patients at a profit.

“Chemotherapeutic drugs are the only classification of drugs that the prescribing doctor gets a direct cut of,” Glidden says. “The only reason chemotherapy is used is because doctors make money from it — period. It doesn’t work 97 percent of the time. If Ford Motor Company made an automobile that exploded 97 percent of the time, would they still be in business?” he asks. “No.”

An Australian study looking at the contribution of cytotoxic chemotherapy to 5-year survival rates in adults with malignancies found that the “overall contribution of curative and adjuvant cytotoxic chemotherapy to 5-year survival in adults was estimated to be 2.3% in Australia and 2.1% in the USA.” In their conclusion, the researchers stated: “it is clear that cytotoxic chemotherapy only makes a minor contribution to cancer survival.”

He cites this issue as just one example of a so-called healthcare system that prioritizes profits over human wellness.

“This is the tip of the iceberg of the control that the pharmaceutical industry has on us,” says Glidden. “Medicine in the United States is a for-profit industry. Most people are unaware of this, and most people bow down to the altar of MD-directed high-tech medicine.”

In the second video, naturopathic doctor Leonard Coldwell shares a similar perspective, calling chemotherapy “the Agent Orange of the medical profession.”

“If you have a garden with flowers and bushes and trees and grass, and some weeds, you come with Agent Orange and kill it all off, and now it’s all dead, and you hope only the good stuff is coming back,” Coldwell says. “They bombard the entire system and then they say the cancer is in remission.”

He notes that statistics on the effectiveness of cancer cures refer to survival rates after five years. “You killed basically every bioelectrical and biochemical function in the body,” he says. “Since nothing works anymore, for three years, you have no cancer, you’re cured. You’re just dead in five years.”

Coldwell claims that radiation can cause similar harm. “It’s an assault with a deadly weapon,” he says. “When you radiate someone, it’s causing scars. A scar can never turn back into healthy tissue.”

The problem, he says, is the way doctors are trained. “No medical doctor ever learns about curing anything,” says Coldwell. “They learn about chemical intervention or surgery to suppress symptoms. They don’t go for the root cause.”

He points out that doctors have high rates of suicide as well as alcohol and drug abuse. “These poor guys figure out over time that they have no tools and that they are murdering, and [have] murdered, their patients,” Coldwell says. “You go into the medical profession, the first year, the first two years, you’re really excited, you’re really in it, you’re giving your all, until you find out no matter what you do the patient gets worse, or they cure themselves.”

“These poor doctors figure out they cannot help,” he says. “The medical profession is a religion.”

Again….when you say ‘natural’ you probably don’t know what you are talking about. There are so many cures for cancer, natural, homeopathic, ayahuasca, vibrational remedies, frequency remedies, emotional/trauma release work, body psychotherapy work, family constellation work, etc. etc. When people tell me they tried ’em all I know they didn’t. It would be a hard thing to do. So many people have died from chemo and cancer it’s mind blowing. You dont’ read about them because they are not included in the studies/research. U. of Miami Oncology Dept. It’s time we get honest about cancer and cures. The fact that docs get a kick back is true. The fact that all their research is drug related is true. They aren’t looking for something that doesn’t cost an arm and two legs. Supporting the medical system is like support the local loan shark. It’s BS. People find one cure and it kills the cancer. Doesn’t mean something else wouldn’t. It means they didn’t have enough information to choose something that would have worked without the torture, humiliation, pain and suffering. Lots of people die from chemo all the time. People die. There is much more to curing illness than medicine has encountered or opened up to. Much, much more. Gotta open your mind and don’t believe everything your told. oh yeah, do your own research so you know what it means when you say ‘natural’. I have an entire family that died from cancer and all took chemo. Didn’t do a freakin thing for them.

Chemo is the only drug that pays doctors for using it. No other drug gives a monetary kick back. I think that is his point. Charging for services is very different that getting a kick back for prescribing chemo. And medicine is such an honest, honorable system. Hardly….

There is so much more to this story than what is written. The story of cancer and money and cure. I spent two years in the medical system with my first cancer and it was humiliating and like torture, so painful. I met the WORST human beings who could not have felt worse about themselves because they know the cure rate is so low and here I am another person they may not cure. It was so obvious. As m y oncologist at U. of Miami (cancer research hosp.) said to me, “Don’t let anyone tell you we know anything about cancer because we don’t. and “the research is stacked in favor of chemo. The women who died from the chemo who had breast cancer are not included in the research”. Out of the horses mouth. I agree this article is way to general but not to be discounted. I had cancer twice more and did not use medicine the 2nd and 3rd times. The chemo was certainly killing me. I was smart enough to stop. It’s unfortunate that people trust someone else who does not have their best interest at heart, to cure them. Medicine rarely cures anybody of anything. They manage your illness. With cancer they kill all fast-dividing cells. That is not a cure. That is murder. Two very different things. I know there is new drugs that are pointed directly to kill just the cancer cells. After all the billions of dollars thrown at cancer don’t you think someone would have figured out something by now? That blows my mind more than anything. Read, “Radical Remission”. Many people who got rid of cancer without medicine. People do it all the time. Don’t be brainwashed. Find another way. There are many. And don’t say ‘natural cures’ as if that means something. It means nothing. There are so many cures other than drugs, so many. People make that statement having no idea about what it means.
