How I Fought Cancer Without Chemotherapy… and Won

by Gloria Mattioni 33 Comments

Gloria Mattioni is a writer, blogger, speaker and documentary producer. She has been cancer-free for three years by using natural therapies and cannabis oil after having a tumor in her breast removed surgically.

Around June 2011, I wasn’t feeling myself. I was tired beyond tiredness, had almost constant headaches and my energy level—usually very high—had dropped dangerously low. Everybody tried to reassure me that everything was ok, but I wasn’t convinced. Long story short, after ten blissful years without ever setting my foot in a physician’s office, I decided I had to figure out the causes of my symptoms. I signed up for health insurance and checked into a hospital lab for tests. Good thing I did. Never believe people who tell you that cancer is a silent killer. If you are in touch with your body and your feelings, you’ll know it before you read it on your lab results. And talking about lab tests, don’t be satisfied with a normal blood work. In many cases, cancer does not show up there. I realized I had to be in charge of my health and not allow anybody else to make decisions on my behalf, so I insisted on more tests. In the end, here I was with the news that I had, indeed, breast cancer. My distrust of the health system possibly increased when I was told this on the phone by the same nurse from the radiology department who also refused to tell me what stage my cancer was for “privacy reasons.” Apparently, the only one entitled to discuss this “detail” was the surgeon she scheduled me to see… two weeks later. And so I was left to wonder how bad it could be.

Gloria Mattioni

Gloria Mattioni successfully fought breast cancer by eliminating estrogen-raising foods like dairy, coffee, gluten and red meat from her diet and using only natural supplements like Chrysine, Bioperine and cannabis oil.

I spent the following two weeks trying to sort out my feelings about it on one side, and surfing the web for possible alternative treatments on the other. One thing was in fact crystal clear to me since day one. I wouldn’t allow anybody to poison me in order to ”kill” my cancer, possibly killing me as a delayed “side effect”. I don’t have a bad relationship with death, which I consider a rite of passage already inscribed in every living being’s future. You don’t need psychic powers to know we all have to die at some point. We just don’t know how and when. “When” never concerned me much. I’d rather live a short, healthy and fulfilling life than a long, mediocre one. That’s why I never spared myself, diving head first with passion in every adventure worth exploring without fearing the risks. “How” is the real thing. No way I’m going to die in a hospital with needles stuck in my veins, throwing up and too weak to get up and walk (my true medicine has always been hiking in the woods.) Having said that, despite my relative peace with the idea of a possible accelerated rescheduling of my departure from earth, I had a son who lost his young wife to brain cancer barely six moths earlier, and an infant granddaughter without a mom to raise her. I was no longer free to make decisions only for myself.

While I was sent an “informative” breast-cancer package to explain why chemo and radiation therapy are such great things, I dedicated infinite hours researching on the internet and reading books (one of the best, btw, was Outsmart Your Cancer by Tanya Harter Pierce- I highly advise reading it.) The day of my appointment with the surgeon, I was told that my cancer was stage one. I was offered the option of a mastectomy or a lumpectomy (removing only the malignant nodule, instead of the whole breast.) To go the lumpectomy route, though, I had to commit to the follow up treatments: chemotherapy and 10 weeks of radiation. My research had convinced me that getting rid of the malignant “mass” was a good idea. But I wasn’t sold on chemo or a long radiation term. In fact, the usual prescription for ten weeks of radiotherapy for a similar case is, in my opinion, swollen by the financial agenda of hospitals, fattening up on this costly treatment. My intention was already set on refusing chemotherapy and submitting myself to only three weeks of radiotherapy, per my research findings. Being truthful is one of my main values so having to lie wasn’t very nice. And yet, in times of war, you find yourself resorting to all possible weapons trying to assure your victory. I was at war, against cancer as well as against a system that considers the patient just an organ assemblage, and symptoms something to immediately be suppressed and eliminated.

During this time, I had also realized that my breast cancer wasn’t such a big surprise. In the previous few years, I had experienced loss elevated to the maximum power with the deaths of my still young sister and daughter in law, whom I tried to “nurse” back to health with all my strength but couldn’t. These were the first failures in the life of an over-achiever, who always obtained whatever she set her mind to. I also had to closely witness and monitor the agony of my mother on her death bed (in her own house thanks goodness, after I ‘kidnapped’ her from the Italian hospital where she had been checked in just to die). Last but not least, I had also just lost my long time dog-companion to cancer. On top of this, to cope with the stress of seeing so many of my loved ones dropping dead one after the other, I had slacked on my diet and exercise regimen. And here I should open a different chapter about nutrition and stress management, something a regular oncologist would not discuss with you beside some generic advice to “eat healthy and exercise half an hour a day five times a week”. Try to inquire more about what a “healthy diet” means, and they will give you a prescription based on the FDA approved pyramid where grains and dairy still count for the bigger percentages. Cancer cells feed on sugar. This doesn’t mean that cancer is directly caused by sugar and that you cannot enjoy your slice of tiramisù for dessert, provided that you’re healthy. If you’re diagnosed with cancer, though, your best bet is to keep your glycemic index as low as possible. Grains, even if they are “whole”, quickly turn into sugar in your blood stream. Keeping their consumption at a minimum is very important, and even better would be eliminating all gluten products. Dairy products cause inflammation and inflammation creates an environment where the process of natural healing is already compromised. I heard oncologists advising patients on chemo to eat pizza to cope with the weight loss, but I never heard a word about using marijuana to lighten up and relax, instead of dangerous antidepressants.

I charted my own therapy path. I had surgery in December 2011, followed by a week of detoxing retreat, raw food, yoga and meditation at the Optimum Health Institute in San Diego to quickly push out the toxins left in my body by the anesthesia, and get some much needed energy to face the three weeks of radiotherapy in February that I had chosen to accept. I had, meanwhile, informed my oncologist that I would not go through chemotherapy. When she realized that I was firm on my decision, she asked me if I would be interested in participating in a trial to determine IF chemotherapy was indeed useful for women at my stage of cancer.  I agreed to the trial, thinking that many women could benefit from the findings. My oncologist explained the details. They’d send half of the women in the trial to chemo, and half to only radiotherapy, following them closely with lab testing every three months. The frequent lab testing sounded good to keep an eye on my hormone levels since there was no way I would allow Tamoxifen, a highly controversial medication with plenty of frequent side effects, to chemically induce menopause. My genetic risk potential of recurrence was set low at 17%. I intended to keep an optimal hormone level eliminating estrogen-raising foods like dairy, coffee, gluten and red meat from my diet and use only natural supplements like Chrysine, Bioperine and cannabis oil.

My oncologist was an open-minded person, willing to work with my strong convictions despite her own. The radiology department, on the other hand… not so much. The head of the department saw me only for the initial visit despite my repeated requests to meet her after experiencing excruciating burns during the “treatment”, administered by technicians whose only advice was to “put on more moisturizer.” She minimized the possibility of secondary cancer caused by radiation, dismissing my inquiry on the spot. She seemed to remember about me only after she was informed that I had interrupted radiotherapy at the end of the third week. She made sure I was called every single day for the next two weeks by various nurses trying to scare me. But their terroristic approach only reinforced my decision. I imagined how many other women would give up and become the silent, obedient patient they want you to be.

At the time of my diagnosis. I had made another big decision. I didn’t intend to allow cancer to rule my life. I never pitied myself. I wasn’t going to allow others to do so. Therefore, I never publicly discussed my cancer. Only very few of my close circle knew, and knew better than talking about it when they met me. This is the very first time I openly reveal to be a cancer survivor. My reason to do so is exactly to encourage others to explore any possible alternative treatment before poisoning their minds and bodies.

For instance, my experience with cannabis oil proved to be extremely useful in eliminating insomnia, making me sleep like a baby and having delightful, vivid and entertaining dreams as a lovely “side effect”. It also helped me to be calmer and more relaxed. The only downside is that I do feel lightly stoned in the first hours of the morning and I have a little harder time focusing and gearing up for work. An easy remedy to it, I discover, is allowing myself half an hour of “me time” walking my dog in the canyons before starting the day, even before breakfast.

The other remedy is determining your own dosage, which can be done only by trial and error. I had a couple of pitfalls on the path, when I tried to increase my dosage (evidently too optimistically) and I almost fell when waking up at 3 am and trying to reach the bathroom. Generally speaking, I found out, “half a grain of rice” measured on a plastic toothpick with a spatula is the dosage for a woman of my weight and height (130 lbs, 5.6”), at least for the first couple of months. It can then be slightly increased to one whole grain of rice, which will bring monthly consumption to about 5 grams, for a cost of about $300: expensive but not even comparable to the cost of the prescribed treatments. If cannabis oil is used to fight active cancer cells, this dosage should be increased to 18 or more grams a month. In this case, you should realize that fighting cancer with natural medicine should be your absolute priority for the time of treatment. Better giving up on pushing to keep up with a “normal” life and work schedule. Three months is all it takes to see results and know if the oil is working. And at the end of the day, a three month-vacation (or partial vacation) from usual routine to allow your mind-body connection to be reset doesn’t look like a big sacrifice. Or does it?

I actually read the whole thing…FACT is that the major surgery saved her, and the radiotherapy afterwards. To attribute any of the success to cannabis oil is laughable and ludicrous. You COULD do a real medical study on the effectiveness of cannabis oil and detoxes: it would involve taking hundreds (and preferably thousands) of sufferers with the same cancer in the same stage, and the same genetic responses to that cancer (some people have the genes to fight it better than others) – then give them cannabis oil or other alternative goop. It would also have to be a placebo double-blind and exhibit all the other hallmarks of good, reliable research. THEN you’d have to make allowances for life-style factors…and then one day…maybe…just maybe…you’d be able to say whether the alternative goop has an effect, although that would be HIGHLY unlikely. The reason the alternative therapy lot DON’T do scientifically credible studies is because they probably know they won’t get the answers they’re looking for. Articles like this are misleading, unmedical and just plain ignorant. If this woman believes her own hype, that’s fine – but she shouldn’t be criticizing the real medical industry and dedicated, scientifically qualified staff that ultimately saved her.

marijuana has been curing cancer for 30 years.. it cannot be patented and so the big Pharma can’t make billions of it and thus want nothing to do with it(University of Toronto has talked about doing research but the Government will never allow it). They don’t care about saving lives, only profit. Keep drinking your government koolaid… People like you will be the downfall of society, to dumb to think for yourself.

Fact: chemotherapy kills and injures as many cancer patients as it supposedly helps. My oncologist was honest enough to admit only 10 percent of cancer patients will benefit from chemotherapy. So, I said no to that.
Fact: radiation never leaves your body. I have radiation fibrosis that has impaired my lymphatic system, damaged nerves and left me with lymphedema.
Fact: surgery removed the malignancy but left me without lymph nodes. I was told ahead of time that I had a 60% chance of developing lymphedema. Bottom line here is the scientifically qualified staff gave me a trade.
      Here’s what I got:
No breast, and radiation fibrosis PLUS lymphedema- a new disease that I did not have before cancer treatment. I’ll live with it every day the rest of my life. Lymphedema can be fatal. Yes, it can be managed, but it could kill me. No one saved me. I switched diseases, that’s all. There was nothing ignorant in this article.

One could follow that process, or look at the overall evidence of THOUSANDS of cancer sufferers, under all different walks of life, with all different kinds of cancer, and with varying geographical locations and widely varying lifestyles. The findings? Cannabis cures cancer. I hope your treatment works, too, but cannabis cures cancer. There’s no reason to deny it, anymore than denying that leeches don’t lower a fever.

FACT: Your opinion isn’t one, even after reading the whole thing. FACT: You have no clue what a scientific study does, the steps they take in one, nor the efficacy of the results of that information. FACT: There have been well over 700 studies done as of 2012 that attest to the goop’s success. You know how we know this? The government owns the patent, it is patent number 6630507. Gloria, thank you for trying to let people know that they can heal themselves. Another natural healing method for cancer is the Budwig Protocol. Cancer treatment is a lucrative business and it will never go away. We have to heal ourselves and it is absolutely possible even without radiation and chemo. I have seen many Stage 4 patients heal themselves using Budwig. Nicola and anyone else who writes negatively about Gloria’s story is simply uninformed and will cost lives. You’re adults and the doctors are your paid servants. You don’t have to do anything they say. You just have to stand up for yourself and take charge. Wake up, people!

I can appreciate the research that she did on her own. Physicians have had many decades of information and studies done for everything under the sun. They still do not have solutions for cancer, diabetes, heart disease etc. So why shouldn’t she be able to make her own choices as to how she will be treated. Good for you girl for standing up and not be bullied.

You are right. Cancer is a killer. But chemo and radiation can also kill. There is no cure. There is only treatment. These treatments are barbaric. I am a cancer patient. My mom was. My dad was. My father in law is currently in treatment. My best friend died 4 months ago from breast cancer and she had been in treatment for 2 years. Any new research is welcomed!! I am thankful for the very brave patients that arm themselves with information and plan their own course of action!!!!

The evidence is in, and although the ideal delivery method hasn’t been developed, the use of THC and CBD cannabinoids, as found in cannabis, will help with the side-effects of chemo and will reduce the growth of tumors. Past that, I make no claims, because that’s all I’ve experienced myself, so far. I’ll let you know once I’m cured.

First off, Doctors can’t bully their patients into taking things they don’t like. If a doctor is forcing you to do something you don’t like, you have the right to stop seeing that doctor and find a proper one.

She ( the woman in this article ) Portrays herself as a victim of the health care system, which is nonsense.

If she were a “victim”, it would constitute that she was misdiagnosed/mistreated with the wrong medicine.

As Doctors mostly do, they offer patients of cancer certain solutions, but the patient isn’t obligated to take or do them.

I would guess you haven’t had much experience as a patient. Doctors can and do bully their patients. I’m not saying all of them, I’m not saying the good ones. But I have had many negative experiences and have been kept quite ill for many years by following doctors orders and staying away from alternative solutions based on their scare tactics. I finally went completely alternative and for the first time in 13 years have made steps in the right direction with my health. If I continued to follow doctors orders I would be on 13+ prescriptions and have worse health conditions than I do now. They care about writing scripts and getting you in for their procedures.

Is this a joke? This entire article is outrageous. First, a person doesn’t just decide to get health insurance and get lab tests done. She would have had to go through a general physician, had lab tests, mammo and a biopsy done to know she had breast cancer. She doesn’t even say what specific breast cancer she had. If she didn’t like her doctors, she could have sought out others. She portrays herself as a victim of the health system she went through. There are always other doctors out there and you DO NOT have to go with what they suggest. Doctors and nurses absolutely cannot force you to do anything you dont want to do and nothing is a “battle” with them. For all of you people out there that keep pushing others to believe that they can try to cure themselves – you are contributing to their ultimate death of dying from cancer and wasting precious time that they could be getting real treatment. There are many, many types of breast cancer. This is an extremely dangerous article for someone to read who is trying to find actual answers as to how they should approach treatment if they have just been diagnosed. I agree, be your own advocate, but don’t be a sheep and allow yourself to believe everything you read on the internet, especially written by fools like this and her followers.

I read what you wrote in regards to this article.. doctors bullying, finding different alternatives to the medicine they give you… have you actually had breast cancer? I’m guessing no or you would have written that in your response. My problem is people who advocate for go with the alternatives when it comes to cancer. Having gone through part of the medical establishment’s “treatments schedule”, I agree with the author. She didn’t give any details, but the fact is that my Squamous Cell Carcinoma is shrinking and I’m not bleeding out of the mouth while I sleep. The medical community will badger you, confront you, try to force you, set up appointments without your permission… everything they can do to get you into their science experiments. She might have been too general, but you’re dismissing real evidence to maintain your own bias. Cannabis works!

If the medical community you were going through was badgering you, confronting you, trying to force you and set up appointments without your permission, why did you continue to seek out getting help through them? Why not seek out other doctors or medical establishments? Thats what i did. The first doctor I saw was a surgeon who wanted to do a bilateral mastectomy immediately with radiation possibly after. He didnt even really explain what type of breast cancer I have. He seemed to be annoyed with all of the questions I had asked and at one point asked in a very frustrated voice “so is that all of the questions you have?” When I replied that was no where near the end of my questions, the ass suggested other hospitals to go to. There was no way I was going to continue to see that guy and I sought out help elsewhere which ended up being great. I have triple negative breast cancer and carry the brca1 gene. I was diagnosed last year when I was 32 and the type of breast cancer I have is very aggressive. I never said anything about cannabis in my reply and cannabis use wasn’t what her article was all about. I’m happy you are no longer bleeding out of your mouth (it sounds awful, especially while sleeping) and that you sought help through cannabis… but she was writing about alternatives to defeating breast cancer rather than going through chemo, radiation, etc. She was vague… too vague about her cancer whereas most people who have cancer get into the details, especially when writing an article and being an author/blogger that many people follow. She has no “real” medical evidence that she has provided. She has written up a summary of information and her own opionions that is in fact dangerous for people are going through breast cancer who are looking for answers as to what they should do. It is important to know what someone specifially has before jumping on board with everything they have to suggest when it comes to serious illnesses.

I saw the ENT who did the biopsy, he suggested surgery, radiation, and bone grafts around $300k. I went to a different dr who recommended the same, but for insurance purposes I also saw an oncologist who said I needed to get the surgery by the next week or I would die. I am not going back to any of them, I don’t need bad advice right now. I haven’t been able to find an affordable naturopath, but all my research (and results!) shows that cannabis cures cancer. Like I said, I hope your stuff works for you, but don’t live in denial. Frankincense also seems to hold some promise, but I haven’t been able to confirm that. I took her column for exactly what it is, another source to research. I’m not putting my life in anybody’s hands but the Lord’s… but I’ll research anybody’s opinion, even 5 lbs of carrots a day (joke). When something works (like cannabis), I’ll use it, along with raw fruits and vegetables, exercise, rest/meditation, no meat, and all the other stuff I’m trying. Why can’t you admit that there are other treatments available? “She’s vague”? It’s the internet, not a doctoral thesis!

Like I said, I’m happy that the alternatives have worked in your favor. There are five women that I’ve known in my life who all had breast cancer, before I was diagnosed, that chose alternative methods to avoid chemo, radiation, even surgery for some, and they have all passed away. Since being diagnosed, I’ve been involved in different communities for women that have breast cancer and there were a couple that choose the alternatives. Unfortunately, they are no longer here and I have only been diagnosed since last August. Maybe for other cancers or illnesses an alterntive method for a cure works, but not for breast cancer which is what this author has.

You have shown your ignorance many times over. I applaude you!

I am going to take the time to explain something to you. Use it or don’t I don’t give a f*€k, but at the very least others will have an opportunity to view this.

Cancer is cancer. Doesn’t matter where. Doesn’t matter what kind and stage other than that will determine how hard you go after it and certain treatments are more effective than others depending on what organ system is involved. There is a cure for cancer, in fact there are many cures. It’s not just one thing that you do. But the following is known–it is a defect in your immune system and how it is operating. Cell metabolism is also at play, hence fatigue, etc., I can throw around some big words and concepts like Crebs Cycle that you are unlikely to know anything about. You address the immune system, that is how you go after it. Simple. Where it gets complicated is which treatmentS and I capitalized the “s” on purpose, because you must do many things to get your immune system up and working again. Your body is a total entity, no one system operates in isolation from the others, that is why alternative needs to address various facets of treatments, one alone rarely works.

If you have cancer, surely you can sympathize with what others who have been afflicted are addressing. Have some compassion. Just because you haven’t been bullied by a tyrannical medical system, doesn’t negate that others have been. You sound so angry and I think it’s because you’re very scared. While a part of me feels sorry for you, it is not more than a fleeting thought because it is a waste of energy. How does it help to attack one another? I think as a general consensus, those of us that have chosen an alternative route, just want Access To Choice. We want to have treatments and information available. People sharing that they have been helped is no different that people using conventional treatments being told they are in remission. But, It’s OURCHOICE, not yours. People erroneously think if you choose alternative, you’re gonna be spared, not true. People are dying from both sides of the debate! But numbers Do show, chemo, radiation doesn’t save either. Take your chemo if that’s what you want, it’s your choice. We’re honestly not trying to stop you from pursuing your choice. You should read the piece I wrote earlier, if for no other reason, I think there is some valuable info there. If you choose conventional treatment and survive it, your body will need at least 2 years to recover and rebuilt from the damage. Radiation damage is permanent and cannot be reversed. We all are entitled to choose to live with the effects of our choices. If from a point of humanity you can’t be supportive, note you don’t have to agree, then STFU.

I am very happy this young woman is still cancer free. In her situation (stage one) that is not unusual. The fact that she is using a holistic approach to dealing with her disease is certainly commendable.

Now that said; my mother had stage three breast cancer, had a mastectomy and lived cancer free for ten years until it was found that the cancer had metastasized to her intestines. She died less than a year later.

Well, i don’t think anything is more confusing than Cancer. just came back from oncologist had upper lobe removed June 23 and was diagnosed stage one. Now it’s stage 3 because it had spread. in talking to him he sounded as if he was reading out of a text book. He said with chemo i had a 40% of it coming back as opposed to 60%. And he was pushing the chemo. All the cancer was removed during surgery, but now we’re dealing with it coming back, and it goes on and on and on and on. I know i can’t handle chemo. I couldn’t even handle estrogen or pain medication. Then he said, if it comes back, it’s TERMINAL. Hello. I’m not going to do chemo. That will kill me.

What you write about is completely true…I have also been the recipient of bullying behaviour, unfortunately for them they had no idea who they were up against, even in the state I was in. I was incredibly ill.. I’m in Canada and it is not as easy as going to a different Dr. No one would even see me, I required a specialist within a specialty. I asked to go somewhere else because of poor care/attitude and couldn’t even get in another province. There were 2 doctors in the province and they worked together. Other provinces could only put me on a wait list which could be up to a year as they had an obligation to the people in that particular prov first.

I was scheduled for surgery, no choice, tumour was so big. But I was taken in by emergency when my huge tumour shifted and cut off several organs. I had a gynaecological tumour that was feeding poison directly through a nice blood supply into the rest of my body making me very ill. I waited for surgery 4 days, excruciating pain because the only 2 that were qualified to perform it were away at a conference. I didn’t even care, I just wanted to die and actually prayed I would. Because the surgery was so complicated they wouldn’t let a gynaecologist perform it. I wasn’t about to let them take all my reproductive organs when it was only one ovary affected. God forbid I survived the surgery, I wanted quality of life. I was in my early 40’s and wasn’t going to be put into premature menopause and after researching after effects of the surgery, I was not willing to live with the after effects. They would not perform a biopsy, I was given the choice of full staging or nothing. I held firm and would only give permission to remove the damaged ovary and tumour.

The only reason I even went back to see that jackass was because the surgical site which ended up being huge, because the tumour was so big and as they attempted to remove it, it broke open and spilled all through my pelvis and abdomen, was causing me extreme problems. They wouldn’t even look at me or discuss my concerns. Basically in a room with 2 doctors, a nurse and social worker trying to terrorize me, all they would address was chemo, I agreed to sign (noting Under Duress), a permission slip so they could start the paperwork for chemo, which I had no intention of going to, but I was still so sick and exhausted and in pain and just couldn’t fight so many people against me, I had to get out of there. They got distracted with the paperwork and I got the hell out of there. Now, I am normally a force to be reckoned with, but I’ve never been so sick and weak in my life.

I literally wouldn’t answer the phone. I dropped off the planet basically and directed my own treatment under the care of a naturopath. I finally went back to see a different Dr so I could get another scan, as was suggested by Doctors in Germany. By this time they were shitting themselves because I raised holy cane. Their nurse was the only one that said boo about how good I looked, my results from bloodwork had completely turned around and she acknowledged this, said whatever you’re doing, it’s obviously working.

To all the nay sayers, you have to attack this at every level! Nutritional (what you eat, IV’s), supplements, supporting treatment (reflexology, immune system stimulation, meditation, etc.) and a very important component that is rarely addressed….the psychological aspect. You can’t do some components like nutritional IV’s and then eat crap. The ones saying natural doesn’t work, they’ve had friends die, I’m sorry for your loss, but maybe dig a bit more as to why it didn’t work. I had a blood test done that was sent to a lab overseas that tested which chemo agents and natural treatments actually had an effect on my cancer cells. The treatments were rated. I had no time to lose, I needed to fight using as many components as possible.

Here’s something else for you conventional enthusiasts to chew on. The rate at which you do receive chemo doesn’t have to be as harsh as what is recommended in North America. Overseas they are using cutting edge info and can target the chemo in very small doses directly to the cancer cells without frickin killing you. I sought out Dr’s that knew this shit, but I had layed down such good ground work in the months proceeding, they did not advise chemo, only as a last resort. Many have commented about the vagueness of the article. Take note this is but an article and this lady has a book to sell.

I have no idea if the effects of my natural treatments are gonna keep me alive long term, it’s going to depend on how hard I am willing to keep up on all the changes that are ongoing to keep one healthy. The changes have to be lifelong. What I can tell you is I chose to exert control on whether the number of days I have left will be me living sick with a lot of ongoing side effects or having good health, feeling well, having boundless energy and quality of life that is enviable. I haven’t quite reached the 5 year milestone yet. But I’m also not sick in bed, unable to eat or do things, barfing, etc.

To the one woman who has raged against so many people that have commented. Do some investigating into the pharmaceutical industry, learn about how studies are run and how to read statistics and understand how information can be twisted. The problem I have with supporters of conventional treatment is that people should have choice and be able to access whatever options they want to. Your body, your health, your choice. Just as in the case if you want to destroy your body with chemo and radiation, go for it, what the hell do I care. Just don’t support restricting my options or ability to access alternatives.

I was curious about apoptosis. Natural cell death, which cancer avoids in order to proliferate. The morning we were to go in for the 10 month follow up CAT scan I was lucky enough to come across the research on oleocanthal (a polyphenol in some brands of extra virgin cold pressed olive oil) published by Rutgers/Hunter colleges run by Paul Breslin Feb 2015.
    https://news.rutgers.edu/research-news/ingredient-olive-oil-looks-promising-fight-against-cancer/20150211
Chemically it is very similar to cannabis oil. So if you are curious about lab research on apoptosis and Cannabidiol there might be recognized support there. Oleocanthal is found in Koroneiki, Tsounati, and several other high grade olive oils. I researched the best ones on the internet. There is actually a global competition for highest content. Oleocanthal is destroyed if heated, and is probably the case with metabolizing it as well. SO – we massage EVOO on all over once every 10 days and let it soak in for at least 5 hours. I would surmise that many people who have improved their diets to the Mediterranean style have added olive oils to their regimen an gained results by accident. We are now approaching the 5th year after 1st diagnosis of the most severe version of endometrial serous stage 4, which seemed impossible at the outset. Yes, it was surgery, chemo and radiation, but they said there was no cure. But I think if you know about apoptosis and what can do it to cancerous cells, you have a lifetime treatment. Oleocanthal penetrates the cancer cell, bursting the waste vesicle and poisons it from inside. It is my hope and expectation that this also informs the immune system of the presence of the cancer so the immune system can go to work on it as well.
You will be impressed when you see on the internet that there are oleocanthal societies, research groups, periodicals, extraction guidelines, and how Breslin and a large group of professionals are applying for patent on oleocanthal derivatives. https://patents.google.com/patent/US8586632
