Christina Haack, star of the HGTV shows Christina on the Coast and Flip or Flop recently explained via Instagram that she is a longtime sufferer of chronic anxiety. Seeking a cure, she took a break from social media, hired a spiritual coach, and inhaled 5-MeO-DMT vapor.
“Smoking the Bufo toad venom is a life changing experience and different for every person. It can’t be summed up in a post,” she wrote.
Haack continued, “My experience felt like my ego was being ripped away from me—a much needed ‘ego death.’” She added that this “basically reset my brain and kicked out years of anxiety in 15 mins.”
5-MeO-DMT, an extraordinarily powerful psychedelic compound made from synthetic sources or taken by smoking dried secretions from the glands of the Sonoran Desert toad, has shown potential as a medicine for anxiety and depression. For example, out of a total 362 participants who took 5-MeO-DMT in a 2018 study, 80 percent reported a reduction in depression, and 79 percent found relief from anxiety.
Other people in the public eye who have openly acknowledged using 5-MeO-DMT include Mike Tyson and Hunter Biden. The latter, the son of current U.S. President Joe Biden, has written that when he used 5-MeO to treat his substance addiction, it “unlocked feelings and hurts I’d buried deep for too long. It served as a salve. I stayed sober for a year afterward.”
He added that his 5-MeO experience “connected me in a vividly renewed way to everyone in my life, living or dead. It felt as though I was seeing all of existence at once—and as one.”
